“Most people have been exposed to PFAS at some point in their life—
the problem is, the chemicals are persistent in the environment and in the human body, meaning they don’t break down and can accumulate over time causing adverse health effects such as low infant birth weights, cancer and thyroid hormone disruptions. Additionally, according to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), studies indicate that PFOA and PFOS can cause reproductive and developmental, liver and kidney, and immunological effects in laboratory animals. ”
